Top 6 Psychedelic TV Shows

Since our Top 6 Trippy TV Shows To Watch list has caused some outrage (apologies psychedelic crowd), we present this peace offering: Top 6 Psychedelic TV Shows.

It should come as a surprise to absolutely no one that Adult Swim dominates the list. And it’s all based on the lovely feedback you’ve given us. So, let’s get started!

(In no particular order)

6. Carnivàle

Carnivàle’s run on HBO was cut short after 24 episodes, despite critical acclaim. The show takes place in the depression-era Dust Bowl between 1934 and 1935 and follows Ben Hawkins, a new member of the traveling carnival. The show is dark, demented and trippy, a much different option than the fun and bright cartoon shows. Still one of the best TV intros today!

5. Xavier: Renegade Angel

Although this CGI cartoon ended at 20 episodes, it’s definitely worth checking out. The show centers around Xavier, a self-absorbed, spiritual-seeking sociopath. Funny to many, offensive to some, Xavier: Renegade Angel is known for it’s dark humor, taboo subjects and of course, the psychedelic visuals.

4. Adventure Time

Depicted in the post-apocalyptic Land of Ooo, this trippy cartoon is about a boy named Finn and his best-friend Jake. Oh and Jake happens to be a magical dog that can stretch or shrink into any shape. Imagine the possibilities.

3. He-Man and the Masters of the Universe

This classic cartoon debuted in 1983 and retains a decent cult following to this day. The show centers around Prince Adam, son of Eternia’s rulers, King Randor and Queen Marlena. Whenever Prince Adam uses the Sword of Power, he is transformed into He-Man. The most powerful man, ever. Love the old-school animation.

2. Rick And Morty

This deranged cartoon follows Rick, an alcoholic grandfather who happens to be a scientist and his grandson Morty, who is innocent but rather stupid. It’s imaginative, colorful and fun. If you enjoy Adventure Time, you will like this.

1. Superjail!

One of the rare cartoon shows that is still 100% hand-drawn, Superjail! is about a prison and it’s eccentric inmates, located beneath a volcano. Inside another volcano. In a different dimension known as 5612. Right..

The premise is as crazy as the visuals which have been described as trippy, satanic, violent and disturbing. Enjoy!

Honorable mentions: 12 oz. Mouse, Tim and Eric, Metalocalypse.
